Mathematics in Education and Industry was founded in the early 1960s and is an independent UK curriculum development body. MEI is committed to improving Mathematics Education and is involved in a range of activities to fulfil this aim:
The majority of MEI's members are classroom mathematics teachers in schools and colleges. MEI is a registered charity. Teaching Further Mathematics (TFM) TFM provides an extensive course of professional development for teachers of A level Mathematics who are now teaching Further Mathematics or wish to teach it at some point in the near future. Applications are now being taken for 2008/09. Comments on June 2008 papers Centres are invited to send in their comments on the June 2008 papers. MEI newsletter The latest edition of the MEI newsletter has been published and is available on this site. MEI conference 2008 Bookings are now being taken for the 2008 MEI Conference at the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield: Thursday 3rd - Saturday 5th July. MEI submission on the National Curriculum MEI has submitted evidence relating to the Mathematics National Curriculum to the House of Commons Select Committee on Children, Schools and Families. Graphs (IWB program) has been updated The "Graphs" program designed to be used for open-questioning, especially with an Interactive Whiteboard, has been updated. FSMQ Additional Mathematics Professional Development Course A 1-day professional development course on FSMQ Additional Mathematics at Tower Hamlets PDC, London on Tuesday 10th June 2008. Certification of AS and A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics Certification rules are changing from January 2008. Evaluation of participation in GCE mathematics: MEI recommendations MEI has produce recommendations in response to the QCA report "Evaluation of participation in GCE mathematics".
