MEI is offering pairs of CPD days designed for teachers who want to widen their expertise in an area of post-GCSE Mathematics. These include:
Course StructureOn Day 1 participants will be introduced, through a series of model lessons, practical activities and discussion, to the big ideas in their module. They will receive a copy of the relevant MEI textbook and one year’s access to MEI on-line teaching and learning resources for the module. Over the following two months, participants will be encouraged to use the web resources, written specifically for course participants, and the e-mail support offered to consolidate the work from Day 1 and prepare for Day 2. On Day 2, the more demanding topics will be covered with an emphasis on teaching approaches, student misconceptions and extension work As far as possible, all specifications will be covered: for example, the ‘Introduction to S1’ days will cover all the topics that appear in any of the various S1 modules: OCR, AQA and Edexcel.
